ASU Mission Statement
Established during the Civil Rights Movement, striving to be the voice of Asian Americans at the University of Minnesota, aiming to promote understanding of the diverse Asian Pacific Islander Desi American cultures, and providing a cultural experience to the University and its surrounding communities.
MN8
For the 2025-2026 school year, our non-profit of the year was MN8. Minnesota 8 (MN8) is a Twin Cities-based organization fighting for Southeast Asian communities impacted by ICE detention and deportation. Rooted in the legacy of U.S. war displacement, MN8 addresses systemic barriers through community organizing, legislative advocacy, direct legal support, and leadership development. Their work tackles three core issues: deportation threats, barriers to civic participation, and lack of access to economic and mental health resources, with a goal of long-term, community-led liberation.
